I fell in love with skiing at Powderhorn Mountain outside Grand Junction when I was just 7 years old. Not long after, my family moved to Crested Butte, Colorado — a place that shaped who I am today. There, I dove into ski racing, mountain biking, fly fishing, hunting, and became part of the community in every way I could: guiding elk hunts, wrenching at the local bike shop, working on ranches, and getting my start in emergency services through mountain rescue and the fire department. Though Crested Butte will always be home, I eventually had to leave to pursue higher-level ski racing. I found a second home at Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC), where I trained from age 16 to 20. The support I received at AVSC quite literally saved my ski career, and I’ll always be grateful for those years.

The COVID season brought a lot of uncertainty. With limited money and no clear path forward, I built out a van and lived in it for the year, using it to travel and race. After the season, I sold the van and covered all my expenses with the value I’d added — a win in itself. Still, I hadn’t been recruited to a Division I NCAA team, and I’d narrowly missed U.S. Ski Team selection multiple years in a row. With few options left, I decided to step away from skiing and commit full-time to school. I’d kept up my Fire/EMS certifications while racing, working part-time on ambulances, rescue teams, and with fire departments. That passion led me to the University of Utah, where I studied Paramedicine and Remote Rescue. I still dreamed of skiing, but had no way to make it happen.

In the form of a miracle someone believed in me that year, and gifted me $20,000 to keep chasing my dream. That support made my season possible. I raced while continuing school, qualified for World Junior Championships, and ended the year ranked in the top 15 in GS in the NCAA Western Region. That performance earned me a spot on the Montana State University ski team. Montana State has been my home for the past three years. With their support, I’ve pushed myself in both speed and tech disciplines. This year, I finished high enough in the NORAM standings to earn a World Cup start in Super-G and was officially nominated to the U.S. Ski Team. Through it all, I’ve stayed connected to the Fire/EMS world, working in my local Montana community on the ambulance and in the firehouse. I’ve also embraced everything this state has to offer — chasing elk through the mountains, meeting new people, and swing dancing on the weekends.

I want to be the best in the world. I am proud to represent my country and race on the World Cup. My dreams and aspirations are big, and I look forward to achiving them. I’m a regular guy with a deep passion for the things I love and a drive that won’t quit.
